It sure has been a rainy month! It has been great for the park and our lawns. With the summer months coming, we did want to remind you about some water etiquette:
First, when it is raining, please turn off your sprinklers. The rain will do a good enough job on its own of watering your lawn.
Second, you only need to water an established lawn about three times a week according to the Utah Division of Water Resources.
Third, it is best to not water your lawn in the heat of the day -- between the hours of 10 AM and 6 PM. During these hours a lot of the water simply evaporates, leaving your lawn still thirsty and our water bills higher.
If you have questions about water conservation I recommend the Utah Division of Water Resources webpage. They also include a page specifically about conserving water in your home. It is a quick and easy reference. These websites are great resources and we highly encourage that you look at them.
Please be a courteous neighbor, and do your part to conserve water. When someone abuses their water privileges we all pay for it.

What is the status of the park water lines transferring over to the canal water instead of culinary water?
ReplyDeleteWe are going to test the pump this week, and if everything works there we are planning on switching to canal water until park two is seeded. At that point we will need to switch back to city water until park two is established.
ReplyDeleteWhy is the park being watered in the heat of the day when it is not recommended to do so. Much water is lost in the evaporative process and plants can actually get burned. Is there a problem with setting it to the early morning hours, as recommended? I just walked to the mailbox on 7/11 and it was watering @ 1:30 pm.
ReplyDeleteThe reason the park is being watered in the afternoon is because someone (we aren't sure who, but have suspicions and are looking into it) is reprogramming our sprinkler system with out our consent. We set it to water in the morning. We are sorry for the waste this is causing. Please know that we are taking care of this. We appreciate that you care enough to say something!
